Sciurus paginarum

Point the phone at a page. It finds the corners, you nudge them if it is wrong, and the page joins the document. When you are finished the whole thing becomes one flat A4 PDF in a folder you chose once. There is no library of old scans, because a scanner is not a filing cabinet.

PDF Beaver

Castor chartarius

A workbench for documents that arrive from other people. Load a stack of files and work through them one at a time: lift the text out of a PDF without the page furniture, black out what should not be shared, read an Outlook message that nothing else will open, and combine whatever you tick into one paginated PDF.

Then you read: highlight, ink, flag, tag, cross-reference and build a chronology across every document at once. What you mark is written back into that same folder, so the work travels with the matter and not with the machine.

Scarabaeus fasciculi

A heap of emails, folders and documents, rolled into one bundle. It converts everything to PDF, paginates it, numbers it, and builds the cover index with dot leaders. Emails keep their attachments; folders become index structure; what you leave out still gets a placeholder, so the numbering never lies.
